POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Multi-Tenant Cloud Platforms will lead and manage the operational aspects of cloud infrastructure and the platform as a service component that make up the foundation of our multi-tenant cloud services. This role is responsible for ensuring the scalability, availability, and security of cloud-based platforms while driving continuous improvements in system performance, incident management, and cost optimization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the delivery and operations of multi-tenant cloud environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
Participate in the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure, primarily focusing on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Ensure efficient monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue resolution.
Operational Excellence:
Establish key performance indicators, SLA’s, metrics, and measurements demonstrating area health.
Communicate effectively to manage change and ensure overall system and application availability are not impacted across solution areas.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure system reliability, including incident management, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.
Lead the root cause analysis and resolution of major incidents, ensuring timely communication and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Team Leadership:
Lead a distributed team responsible for running a 24x7x365 Cloud, Infrastructure, and Operations organization with staff located in multiple locations.
Manage and mentor a team of cloud operations engineers, system administrators, and DevOps professionals.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the team.
Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Security) to support product development and deployment processes.
Security & Compliance:
Collaborate with the security team to ensure adherence to cloud security best practices, including data encryption, identity management, and vulnerability scanning.
Ensure the cloud infrastructure is compliant with industry standards and regulations such as FEDRamp, GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.
Cost Management & Optimization:
Work with FinOps team to monitor cloud costs and implement strategies to optimize spending without compromising system performance or reliability.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement:
Develop and implement strategies for capacity planning, growth management, and future scalability.
Evaluate emerging technologies and cloud trends to improve operational performance and enhance customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure operational alignment with the company's strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree or equivalent work experience.
12+ years of experience in cloud operations.
5 years managing people in multi-tenant cloud environments.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Proven experience in managing large-scale, high-availability, multi-tenant cloud applications.
Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, database management, and cloud security best practices.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of improving operational efficiencies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across multiple teams and departments.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools is preferred.
