Position Overview
The Vice President position in Trade Operations will play a key role in establishing best in class oversight of critical operations processes around Trade Processing, Collateral Management and Regulatory Reporting. The candidate will lead various initiatives to increase straight through processing capabilities, streamline and centralize workflow, and implement technology-based solutions. The candidate will be expected to play a hands-on role and be active in both macro and micro aspects of the role from strategic planning and project management to ensuring BAU activities are properly performed and controlled.
Scope and Responsibilities
Trade Processing
Allocating trades across multiple accounts, funds, and special purpose vehicles based on allocation guidelines and compliance limits
Driving initiatives to establish and continuously improve straight through processing rates
Facilitating collaborative discussions with Traders, Portfolio Managers, and other stakeholders to move trade processing related items forward
Aiding in private and complex deal settlement and maintenance including but not limited to working with transfer agents, validating lifecycle events, and instructing manual directives
Assisting in repo/reverse repo booking and settlement as well as with strategic initiatives (i.e. FICC clearing)
Leading cleared derivative account onboarding and establish ability to use multiple FCMs
Managing relationship with FCM providers
Standardizing derivative adherences process for new fund launches
Working with technology team to design, develop and test new functionality
Writing effective procedures and training others when necessary
Collateral
Driving initiatives to automate and centralize collateral management functions and establish key performance metrics and reporting
Managing OTC Bilateral, Cleared, Prime Brokerage, and Repo Margin movements across all Oaktree funds
Develop collateral monitoring process around complex bespoke deals
Establishing segregated Initial Margin Tri-party accounts
Responding to client inquiries and diligence questionnaires related to collateral and regulatory reporting requests
Regulatory Reporting
Ensuring Oaktree is monitoring and meeting existing regulatory requirements related to transaction reporting, counterparty exposure, and trade reconciliation
Establish capabilities to self-report transactions to the Global Trade Repository or evaluate industry vendors to fulfill reporting obligations
Partnering with Compliance and other stakeholders on regulatory initiatives and staying up-to-date on upcoming regulatory obligations and their expected impact
Experience Required
10+ years relevant operations experience, specific expertise and knowledge of all financial instruments with specific focus on all variations of Cleared and OTC derivatives (Credit/Rate/Equity), collateral management, and regulatory reporting
Firm understanding of the various drivers of margin
Experience with the following regulatory topics: Dodd-Frank, EMIR/ASIC/MAS reporting/Form PF/UMR
Experience working with industry utilities, agreements such as ISDAs, CSAs, GTR, S&P Global, TriOptima, Acadia, Prime Brokerage agreements, Tri-Party agreements, etc.
Experience working with industry utilities, vendors, and communication protocols such as CTM, CLS, OASYS, ALERT, SWIFT, FIX, VCON, Market Axess, Tradeweb, FXAll, etc.
Deep understanding of Databases and Data structure
Experience with programming languages and tools such as SQL, Python, VBA, Power BI a plus
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Personal Attributes
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Strong initiative and a self-starter with a proven ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
Proven record of leading strategic change and moving the business forward through operational initiatives
Flexible and team-oriented with strong integrity and professionalism.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or CFA is preferred.
Base Salary Range
$165,000 - $225,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
