Assistant Vice President

This position could work out of WSP's offices in Arlington, VA; Bethlehem, PA; Boulder, CO; Buffalo, NY; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA. Other WSP office locations or remote options may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
The individual will support a client–facing team in the design, implementation, and management of sustainability programs for a variety of clients, including Global 100 corporations. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability and climate, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products.

Your Impact
Duties and Responsibilities
As an Assistant Vice President, you will be expected to join and lead teams to complete projects, providing experienced project leadership and guidance. Candidates are expected to be experienced subject matter experts able to communicate with clients, design project scopes of work and deliver projects on time and on budget. Additional responsibilities include:
Manage multiple projects/project teams concurrently to build client relationships and deliver positive client outcomes.
Direct complex client delivery teams of internal and external stakeholders and provide technical direction and expertise
Collaborate with clients to design and deliver solutions to achieve strategic priorities for high-profile sustainability initiatives
Lead business development activities with existing and prospective clients
Supervise individuals and support management of the SECC practice
Project tasks and deliverables will span a wide variety of disciplines and topics but are likely to include the following:
Lead complex client delivery teams of internal and external stakeholders and provide technical direction and expertise
Serve as the lead thought-partner to clients, designing and delivering solutions to achieve strategic priorities for high-profile sustainability initiatives
Architect and author professional technical memos, reports, and proposals summarizing complex concepts and project outcomes
Coach teams in the successful development of complex, entity-wide sustainability data inventories for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resources and build the foundational elements of corporate sustainability programs
Organize and derive insights from large, unwieldy data sets; effectively communicate findings to executive audiences
Partner actively with clients to develop ambitious sustainability performance targets with accompanying strategies and achievement plans
Develop and evaluate metrics and tactics for tracking and achieving energy, GHG, and other resource reductions
Lead teams to design corporate decarbonization strategies, evaluating and including a variety of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy procurement options
Lead climate-related risk and opportunity assessments
Guide clients and teams to identify appropriate industry benchmarks and sustainability programs
Develop content and support public disclosures through sustainability reports, voluntary reporting programs and compliance with regulatory requirements
Who You Are
Required Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of 10 years of professional consulting and/or corporate experience with a focus on sustainability, energy, climate, and/or environmental management
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or environmental discipline required
Demonstrated expertise with sustainability frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, supply chain management, LCA, SBTi, CDP, GRI, and/or TCFD.
Demonstrated project and client relationship management experience
Demonstrated leadership experience in operating a practice and supervising individuals
Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity: ready to learn and work on a team.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to develop and present analyses using programs such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI
Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage time efficiently
Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Master’s degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or environmental discipline
Demonstrated expertise and industry leadership in one or more of the following emerging sustainability domains; supply chain management, circularity, water stewardship, biodiversity, renewable energy procurement, zero-waste certification and strategy, water resource management, climate risk assessment, and life cycle assessment.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $95,300 - $169,840
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $95,300 - $159,390
