Job Description: PRINCIPAL DATA Modeler

The Role

As a Principal Data Modeler on the Data team, you'll lead and collaborate across Fidelity teams in a fun and dynamic environment to build a data modeling platform for Fidelity Digital Asset. You will work closely with product teams, data engineering teams, architecture, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Using AWS and/or on-premises services, you'll help design and implement data models for analytical, operational, and transactional platforms. You will be responsible for the data modeling efforts in support of Crypto Trading, modeling the various domains and entities in scope, and enhancing existing data models as the business evolves.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer/data science or a related field

7+ years of hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience; Python knowledge is a plus

Strong SQL knowledge and experience with databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Teradata

Hands-on modeling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, and sandbox POC

Good knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (e.g., Erwin or ER Studio)

Demonstrated hands-on data modeling, ER diagram and enterprise software design experience for OLTP (relational) and analytical systems

Good knowledge of data modeling principles and standard methodologies, including understanding of semantic data modeling concepts and multi-Fact models

Ability to define data modeling standards and guidelines, as well as help teams adopt complex large-scale and global data-driven implementations

Strong experience in data modeling activities supporting history handling, time series data warehousing, and data transformations

Ability to quickly grasp technological and business concepts, key domains, and entities

Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience communicating with engineers, architects, and product management to explain technical and functional concepts

Ability to assess the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data models, as well as maintain relevant documentation

Experience with Alation and Collibra to drive data cataloging and data lineage

Strong understanding of data governance processes and metadata repositories

Experience working with Data Governance teams to identify and capture business and technical metadata associated with various data entities

Experience and desire to work within a fast-paced environment with short release cycles and an iterative development methodology

Able to work on multiple projects/products simultaneously and comfortable working with minimal specifications

Excellent communication and documentation skills
