This team launched Spatial Voice Chat on the Roblox platform, which has been adopted by tens of thousands of Roblox developers and millions of users. As a Principal WebRTC engineer, you will architect and implement critical parts of our voice chat and video chat infrastructure to facilitate meaningful interactions for a billion users.You will:

Develop voice and video infrastructure that scale to a billion usersEnhance upstream WebRTC where required and integrate with Roblox infrastructureBuild clear APIs to manage video communication and streaming infrastructureLead design and architecture discussions and mentor junior engineersCollaborate with product leaders to build compelling voice and video enabled experiences that can be easily integrated by Roblox developersYou have:

5+ years of experience with compiled languages such as C#, Go, Java, C++, or others2+ years of experience building and operating voice and video infrastructure at scaleA deep knowledge of WebRTC technologies (TURN, STUN, ICE, audio/video codecs)An understanding of and experience with many-to-many real-time low-latency media conferencing topologies and components such as SFUs.Experience with network protocols (HTTP, TCP/UDP, Websockets)Experience with media protocols such as RTMP, HLS, DASH, etcBachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 5 years of hands-on experienceStrong communication skills (spoken and written)For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.Annual Salary Range$283,780 — $331,640 USDRoles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).You’ll Love:
