Position Description Summary/Purpose

:

The Treftz School of Business at the University of Bridgeport cordially invites applications for the

Undergraduate Program Director and Assistant Professor

in the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business. The preferred start date for the position is January 1, 2025.

The

Undergraduate Program Director

and Assistant Professor

in the Ernest C. Trefz School of Businessis a non-tenure track academic appointment responsible for the overall performance of the programs in terms of academic content delivery and student experience while working within appropriate policies and procedures. The Undergraduate Program Director works with the Deans, Directors, Department Chairs, and faculty to ensure that the academic offerings are delivered as designed and consistent with accreditation requirements.

The Undergraduate Program Director works closely with students to ensure that they have a superior experience and support resources consistent with a high-quality undergraduate business education. The Undergraduate Program Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional culture of success for students and staff.

The Undergraduate Program Director must also engage closely with the Admissions Office and the Career Services Office to ensure that appropriate applicants (in quality and quantity) are admitted to the program and that they find suitable job/career opportunities for internships and permanent positions upon graduation. The Undergraduate Program Director reports to the Executive Director of the School of Business and works collaboratively as part of the management team of the School of Business. The Undergraduate Program Director will also teach two courses.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities

:

Serve as the leader in providing a superior student experience;

Manage the day-to-day affairs of the undergraduate School of Business programs;

Develop and submit the class schedule and assign faculty to appropriate classes;

Operate within approved budget requirements;

Assist in recruiting and placing students;

Develop and implement procedures that will provide for an efficient operation and a

superior student experience;

Advise and work with students directly including resolving student issues;

Resolve day-to-day faculty issues;

Implement the programs and policies of the School and University;

Represent the School in the community including outreach to alumni;

Support activities related to accreditation;

Teach two courses each semester; and

Support the Dean's and Director’s efforts to engage all stakeholders of the School of

Business in order to keep the curriculum current and attract needed resources to the

School.

Other Functions :

Performs similar or related work as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.

Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.

Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Proven teaching track record

Minimum Required Qualifications

:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution, preferred in a business-related degree; terminal degree preferred;

Candidates with non-business-related degrees must be a current practitioner, and have significant experience, additionally, they must detail their practical business, management, and or leadership experience;

A minimum of five years of appropriate business, management, and or leadership experience;

Evidence of at least two years of successful teaching at the college/university level or at least five years of training experience at the corporate level;

A minimum of two years of administrative experience at the college/university level or an additional five years of appropriate business experience;

Demonstrated commitment to student success or to customer service;

Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population;

Innovative thinker and problem solver with an entrepreneurial attitude;

Attention to detail and ability to oversee student operations; and

Strong communication and people skills and the ability to work with faculty, students, and business people.
