Does the prospect of solving high impact problems excite you?The Amazon Devices Forecasting Science team is seeking a truly innovative and technically strong Data Scientist with a background in machine learning and statistical modeling/analysis. We are a team dedicated to demand forecasting and supply chain optimization for the entire Amazon Device family of products and accessories. We develop scalable and robust state-of-the-art forecasting solutions for the entire portfolio of Amazon Devices, and drive down supply chain costs, enabling the offer of lower prices and better in-stock selection for our customers.This role is central to the continued growth of Amazon Devices as we have grown from the first Kindle E-Reader to a vast portfolio of Alexa devices, Fire TVs & Sticks, Fire Tablets, Kindles, Ring and many other devices. In this role, you will have an opportunity to both develop advanced scientific solutions and drive critical customer and business impact. You will play a key role in driving end-to-end solutions from conception to deployment. You will drive model exploration and deployment cycles including understanding our business requirements, exploring a large amount of historical data, building prototypes and exploring conceptually new solutions, all the way to working with partner teams for production environment deployment. You will collaborate closely with engineering peers as well as business stakeholders. You will be at the heart of a growing and exciting focus area for Amazon Devices.Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes working with big data, enjoys the challenge of highly complex business contexts that are constantly innovating on behalf of the customer. Research and develop new methodologies for demand forecasting, benchmark against state-of-the-art approachesImprove upon existing methodologies and implement model enhancementsDrive scalable solutionsCreate and track accuracy and performance metrics (both technical and business metrics)Develop, enhance, and maintain technical documentation, and present to other scientists, engineers and business leadersDrive best practices on the team; mentor and guide junior team members in achieving their career growth potentialDrive and influence team roadmap and wider organization visionBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience5+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experienceExperience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regressionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
