In the role of Director of Software Engineering for our Neuromodulation division, you will be accountable for delivering reliable, innovative, software medical device applications for our products. Our software is used for controlling our implantable neurostimulator; mobile and cloud solutions for our patient and clinicians. Your responsibilities will include: Leadership - strategies for creating high performing teams, establish team goals to support business goals, team mentoring, hiring, team career planning, performance management, and retention. Application Development - application of appropriate development methodologies, establishing software estimating practices, specifying application development environments and toolchains for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment. Project Support - designating project software leads, allocating engineering resources to projects, specifying and monitoring metrics for executing to plan. Communication – institute efficient practices for communicating with: Senior Staff, direct reports, and cross-functional collaborators; Marketing, Project Management, Regulatory, and Quality Assurance. Grow the Business – establish a strategic team structure to allow the business to scale with additional software products, contribute to product innovations, identify, and implement tactical continuous improvement. Key software skills: Knowledge of IEC 62304 development process Software verification and test automation Development and management of product requirements Mobile, cloud, standalone computer connectivity solutions Software architecture/design Solutions for robust high availability software Design and implementation of cyber security solutions Knowledge of hazard analysis, software risk mitigations, Failure Modes Effects Analysis Understanding of Dev Ops solutions Develop and track software budgets Required qualifications: 10+ Years of relevant work experience with Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field; or 5+ Years of relevant work experience with Masters Degree Experience in the medical device or healthcare industry Direct management experience of software R&D teams designing/developing/sustaining core products and services Worked in agile environments for example, Kanban and Scrums Collaborative approach for supporting other teams and willing to embrace best practices from outside your area Unwavering integrity for quality of work Understanding formal software verification trade-offs – automated or manual testing Some experience in C#, Swift, node.js, Java, UX, Containers, Cloud, Windows, iOS, and Android A strong interest in continuous learning and adaption of new technologies and methodologies What makes Boston Scientific Neuromodulation so special?
