Executive Director To Lead the Fight Against Leukemia in Texas!
Leukemia Texas is seeking a visionary and passionate Executive Director to lead our organization in its mission of helping Texans beat leukemia, through patient aid, research, and innovation. Leukemia includes a variety of blood cancers that affect people of all ages, from very young children to the elderly.
Executive Director Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Provide strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of the organization.
Develop and implement a comprehensive long-term plan to achieve Leukemia Texas' mission.
Lead the Board of Directors and ensure effective governance.
Oversee all staff, volunteers, and programs to ensure efficient and impactful operations.
Patient Advocacy:
Champion the needs of patients and their families by securing resources and programs to provide support throughout their treatment journey.
Ensure strong relationships with healthcare providers and patient advocacy groups.
Development:
Lead the organization in securing financial support through individual donors, corporate sponsors, 3rd party fundraisers, and foundations.
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including grant writing, management of special events, including the annual Beatleukemia Ball, and creation of new opportunities.
Oversee all fundraising activities and ensure achievement of annual fundraising goals.
Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors and cultivate new giving opportunities.
Financial Management:
Work collaboratively with the Leukemia Texas Board of Directors to develop and monitor the organization's annual budget.
Provide oversight of our accounting and tax partners to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board of Directors and compliance with state and federal requirements for a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization.
Manage day-to-day financials, including banking relationships, cash flow, accounts payable, patient aid grants, and the organization’s risk management.
Community Engagement:
Represent Leukemia Texas at community events and offer educational programs to raise awareness about leukemia research and patient support services.
Develop and strengthen partnerships with other organizations to maximize impact.
Executive Director Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role within the non-profit sector, with a proven track record of success in fundraising, program development, special events, and financial and budget management. Strategic thinker with ability to develop and implement a long-term vision.
Strong understanding of the non-profit fundraising landscape in Texas.
Experience in grant writing and foundation relationships.
Experience working with a Board of Directors and volunteers.
Experience with large scale events.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Bilingual skills an asset, but not required.
