Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering.
Management/Coordination of all project commissioning and startup activities for a $250 M municipal wastewater treatment plant expansion. Has authority to allocate resources and make startup, commissioning, and testing decisions in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, Guides, and Contractual commitments.
Key Responsibilities
As a third party construction management team, manages and coordinates the process of construction contractor completion turnover to startup, startup turnover to operations, and final turnover to the client.
Manages priorities and activities of startup stakeholders, including Client program management and design consultants, general contractor and CM staff.
Develops and maintains a detailed startup schedule and detailed set of startup packages prepared by the General Contractor to track Startup completion and progress.
Manages and maintains open communications and relationship with all stakeholders.
Develops clear startup procedures as required by contract to coordinate the startup effort.
Plans and prepares for startup activities and major milestones (chemical cleaning, demonstration tests, etc.).
Implements a coordinated operations control program ensuring good communication and the smooth execution of operational activities.
Creates and implements controls process for spares, consumables, outstanding work, and material deliveries.
Coordinates the daily activities effecting and involving startup.
Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
Adheres to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.
Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities which will add value.
Champions continuous improvement efforts.
Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.
Supervises discipline commissioning engineers, operations supervisors, commissioning technicians, LOTO/Turnover coordinators.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of startup experience, including five years as startup manager.
Wastewater Treatment Plant startup experience.
All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications Project Management, Value Based Management, OSHA 10 Hour Training
Work Environment/Physical Demands Physical Demands:
Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
See and hear naturally or with correction.
Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
Requires repetitive movement.
May require work above 5 feet in height.
Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
Work Environment:
Typical construction site environment.
Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions.
Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
Work around hazardous equipment.
Typical office environment.
This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
