NBTS is a leading policy advocacy and research organization as well as a convener of brain tumor research leaders including industry, regulators, funders, clinician researchers and patient advocates. We also provide resources and personalized support to patients and families, and we bring all members of the brain tumor community together each year through our walks, races, community events and Gray Nation Endurance programs.While we have seen significant progress in terms of scientific understanding of brain tumor biology, we are unsatisfied with the status quo of today’s treatment options. NBTS is committed to investment in new ideas and research poised to incent the development and realization of treatments that dramatically increase survival and quality of life for patients.Position Summary:Join a collaborative and relentlessly results-driven Development team as we carry out our mission of conquering and curing brain tumors—once and for all. The Associate Director of Gray Nation Endurance will report directly to the Director of Gray Nation Endurance to advance the strategic priorities of NBTS and execution for Gray Nation Endurance initiatives. This position will serve as lead staff on the National Brain Tumor Ride as the Signature Event of Gray Nation Endurance for NBTS, will manage and host multiple endurance charity teams in established races, and will provide programmatic support as directed across the Gray Nation Endurance program. This position will work to ensure a positive volunteer and fundraiser experience through appropriate recruitment, recognition, retention and succession. The Associate Director of Gray Nation Endurance will oversee aspects of the Gray Nation Endurance program (inclusive of select charity teams and the National Brain Tumor Ride), select charity partner race relationships, assigned projects, and volunteer management.Supervision Exercised:
NoneEssential Duties and Responsibilities:This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform and is not intended to be all-inclusive.Serve as primary Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising lead for the Gray Nation Endurance National Brain Tumor Ride and for assigned Gray Nation Endurance charity teams.
For the Charity Teams, oversee calendar of key dates, deadlines, and activities; including but not limited to Charity Partner Program applications and deadlines, administrative paperwork, race dates, fundraising reports, race logistical deadlines, runner recruitment, runner application and commitment process, inquiry calls, team communication, stewardship, mission delivery, and race weekend.As lead for National Brain Tumor Ride, oversee and support event committee, team retention and recruitment, team mentoring, vendor management, fundraising coaching and other duties as necessary to execute a successful event within budget.
Responsible for achieving team Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising goals while delivering superior volunteer service and support to constituents.Oversee assigned program expenses and budgets as directed by Director of Gray Nation Endurance.Manage and cultivate relationships with Charity Partner Program (CPP) contacts and external vendor relationships as necessary to successfully execute assigned events.Provide strategic assessment for assigned markets, volunteer engagement, and event sustainability and growth.Manage and cultivate assigned donor prospect portfolio.Plan for, travel to, and act as staff lead for applicable on-site Gray Nation Endurance charity team race weekend events and the National Brain Tumor Ride.Act as primary lead for assigned events and projects, including collaborating with event volunteers and charity teams to achieve P2P fundraising goals within budget while delivering superior volunteer service and support to constituents.Collaborate with P2P team to execute (as needed) and cross promote revenue streams within assigned region/s.Collaborate across NBTS teams (Marketing and Communications, Community, Government Relations, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Research, Finance, Information Systems) to ensure an integrative approach to volunteer engagement and communications.Collaborate with and support the Corporate and Foundations team in achieving revenue goals within assigned programs.Build, manage, and maintain select Gray Nation Endurance internal and external sites as applicable.Work to identify opportunities for greater donor prospecting activities among athletes and individual supporters.Maintain Salesforce records of athlete/ participant interaction, event campaigns, pipelines, and Dashboards.Conduct program merchandise and supplies research.Educate and support program committee to build knowledge of NBTS programs and mission, and increase participation and revenue.Serve as front-facing NBTS ambassador and/or support staff for the program as assigned by the Director of GNE.Other duties as assigned.Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent prior experience required.3-5 years of successful experience in the endurance industry, nonprofit peer-to-peer fundraising, logistics, event organizing or like relevant experience required.Experience executing and launching events from initial concept to revenue generating is preferred.Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals, to plan development strategies, and to interact effectively with a wide range of constituents.Experience and strength in endurance fundraising.Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking skills.Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize work, strong attention to detail, and ability to think strategically and execute plans to completion. Ability to work independently and manage schedule, time and priorities.Strong computer competency, including all MS Office and data-gathering tools; familiarity with events platforms and Salesforce or equivalent fundraising and constituent relationship management software (CRM) a plus.Proficiency in a variety of social media platforms and an understanding of how to activate those platforms for event or campaign promotion.Ability to work cooperatively and cross functionally, and to communicate effectively in a virtual team environment.Proven flexibility to effectively respond to changing circumstances and priorities.Ability to represent the organization to external constituents with a highly professional, friendly, and enthusiastic demeanor.The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Providing on site support at weekend fundraising events is an essential function of this role. Attendance at weekend events is required approximately on a quarterly basis.
Travel: Travel by car and/or plane within the US is required up to 20% of the time.
Travel may be inclusive of day travel for meetings, overnight travel for events, or a combination of both.Valid driver's license and access to a car required. Local travel by car to meetings, events and donor visits is an essential function of this role.
This role is largely sedentary and requires sitting or standing in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
