Executive Director at Baltimore Hebrew CongregationBaltimore Hebrew Congregation (BHC), a Union for Reform Judaism affiliated congregation, works to create an open, dynamic and diverse congregation, filled with meaningful experiences and relationships.Established in 1830, BHC values both the traditions that have been established in the community for generations as well as the changes of the modern era.The congregation is seeking a new full time Executive Director, who will join the congregational leadership team at a period of exciting growth. The new Executive Director will lead the congregation in the implementation of a new strategic plan. The congregation is looking for a leader who can exemplify Jewish values as the congregation moves forward in our 3rd century.The Executive Director will be crucial in the following areas:Organizational Leadership:Collaborates with the clergy, staff and lay leaders to help lead BHC’s future as a vibrant and diverse congregation. Manages teams responsible for operations, financial management, development, facilities management, technology, and congregant and community engagement, communication, and education.Fiscal Management & Fundraising: Understands and participates in BHC’s financial strategies and functions. Has the ability to interpret financial statements, monitor the budget, participates in managing cash flow and a strong and stable financial foundation for BHC. Oversees and promotes fundraising activities and facilitates grant writing.Facilities & Information Technology Management: Oversees facilities use and scheduling, including revenue generating rentals. Ensures proper upkeep and maintenance of BHC’s campus and cemeteries. Manages physical and online security needs. Provides oversight to the congregation’s IT systems and website needs. Assures products are up to date and meet high security standards.Programming, Membership and Relationship Management: Implements membership outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies. Cultivates relationships with congregants, Baltimore’s diverse Jewish Community and other stakeholders. Ensures accurate membership information and records. Supports lifecycle events.Human Resource Management: Is a strong leader that recruits, retains, manages, and develops non-clergy staff. Effective delegator that provides support and continuous monitoring of goals and deadlines. Ensures all HR and benefits policies and procedures are developed and maintained.Strategic Thinking: Ensures BHC is structured and on track to achieve its mission, core values and priorities. Participates in the congregation’s planning processes, including periodic updates to the long-term strategic priorities.Required Skills and Attributes:Ability to partner, collaborate and build relationshipsExperience in leadership, including people leadershipExceptional organizational skillsStrong strategic thinking and problem solving skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFamiliarity with synagogue life and knowledge of Jewish customs and ritualsAdaptability and flexibility - willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as neededBachelor’s degree or higher preferred5+ years of leadership experienceBaltimore Hebrew Congregation is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
