JOB DESCRIPTIONStep into a dynamic role at JPMorgan Chase as an External Reporting Data Controller. The external reporting function handles the oversight of the financial statements and management reporting, ensuring a sound control environment; understands and applies the accounting treatments and ensures compliance with appropriate corporate and regulatory requirements; aids the preparation of quarterly regulatory requirements; validates balance sheet items and understands balance sheet usage and reporting.
As an External Reporting Data Controller for US Regulatory Reporting, you will be a part of the multi-locational team that is responsible for supporting execution of data controls and reporting milestones to ensure timely and accurate reporting to the regulators.
Introduction:
The Firmwide Regulatory Reporting and Analysis (FRRA) organization is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of financial and capital results to the Firms key U.S. regulators including the Federal Reserve Bank, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the U.S. Department of Treasury.
FRRA is responsible for over 100 different regulatory filings/disclosures spanning activities across all Lines of Business (LOBs) of the Firm and Corporate functions.
Additionally, the FRRA team supports the preparation of disclosures to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) in the U.S and to local regulators in over 18 different countries internationally.
FRRA also has responsibility for the strategic External Reporting technology agenda for the Firm. This is a portfolio of approximately 60 applications with multi-million-dollar investment programs underway to further enhance the functionality and usability of the Firms key applications that support both the U.S. domestic and local reporting requirements in over 40 countries globally.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversee all production metrics & reporting activities for Firmwide Reporting activities managed by DCR
Lead the data quality issue management process within FRRA DCR – coordinating with CDO, technology stakeholders to log, root-cause & remediate issues in a timely manner
Solicit, groom and manage change management demands for strategic reporting toolset with users, change management & technology stakeholders
Lead production support function front-end engagement with SRE/AD teams to aid triage, coordination & resolution of user-identified issues affecting DCR reporting processes
Effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across geographical regions on deliverables
Participate in full life cycle of projects starting from requirements, design, testing & Implementation
Support new business initiatives
Ensure strict adherence to internal risk, control policies & procedures
Drive completeness and accuracy of data through data sourcing, data validations, data adjustments, and data reconciliations
Identify and promote process improvements to the existing operating model, tools, and procedures
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with the ability to work effectively under pressure. The ideal candidate enjoys resolving complex issues and has had previous exposure to Regulatory Reporting and/or reporting platform technology/change management experience.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Minimum 7 years of finance, accounting, risk, controls or related experience
Strong oral and written communication with the ability to effectively partner with managers and stakeholders at all levels
Team/functional leadership experience and strong organizational management skills
Ability to synthesize complex topics into simple messages
Ability to prioritize and manage expectations across multiple stakeholder groups
Strong working knowledge of MS office applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint), specifically with reconciliations, summarizing and formatting data
Experience using data management & visualization tools in a reporting setting: AWS Databricks, Alteryx, SQL, Tableau, Visio
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:
Familiarity with US Regulatory reporting (E.g. Y9C, Call, CCAR etc.), controllership functions, banking & brokerage products, and US GAAP accounting principles
Control mindset and exposure to establishing or enhancing existing controls
