About the job
The Strategic Healthcare Advisor is responsible for providing expert advice and strategic insights to clients within the healthcare payer industry. You are a self-starter who exhibits a passion for problem-solving. You’ll connect the dots for both our internal and external customers and will provide strategic insight as to why SAS and/or its clients should move in a certain direction. You are exceptional at cross-functional collaboration, working across a variety of internal departments to help define creative applications of data and analytics. Your mission will be to solve complex problems with SAS advanced analytics software for our clients, advancing health globally.
As a Senior Strategic Healthcare Advisor, you will:
Market Analysis & Collaboration with Global Marketing:
You will conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, competitive advances, and sources of disruption within the healthcare industry that will impact our sales strategies.
You will collaborate with internal marketing partners to develop and deliver targeted messages.
Client Engagement:
You will build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and challenges.
You will present to all levels of an organization, including C-Suite.
Domain Expertise:
You will provide healthcare domain-led sales support through sales calls, customer visits, and presentations, contributing to new revenue growth.
Strategic Planning:
You will develop strategic plans and recommendations to help clients achieve their business objectives.
Solution Development:
You will design and track the success of customized use cases that address client needs and drive business growth.
You will articulate why to do something, why to do it now, and why SAS, to C-level clients.
You will identify the need for additional sales support resources required to deliver appropriate SAS solution design, coordinating internally to craft the right message and story for customer pitches.
You will capture requirements through the pre-sales customer journey for purposes of developing statements of work or influencing product development.
Product Influence:
You will work closely with internal teams, including product development, to ensure alignment of use cases and effective delivery of solutions.
Thought Leadership:
You will stay up-to-date with industry trends and serve as an industry advocate and thought leader by increasing awareness of SAS in the healthcare industry through activities such as articles and blogs, whitepapers, podcasts, presentations, and participation at internal and external conferences.
You will leverage an extensive network of external contacts for content validation and additional voices on thought leadership.
You will serve as an active member in key associations and groups in your area of responsibility.
Outcomes Measurement:
You will evaluate and capture the impact of solutions that have been implemented post-sale through case study development.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of working 8 years in the healthcare/healthcare payer industry, with direct experience working in areas such as strategy, revenue cycle management, cost operations, value-based care, risk adjustment, quality metrics, fraud, waste, abuse, etc. and providing insights and solutions to business questions and challenges.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Finance, Economics, etc.)
Willingness to travel on a routine basis, up to 25% of the time.
Entrepreneurial mindset, has the ability to ideate on the art of the possible with analytics, defining how to measure associated outcomes in an effort to develop solutions to healthcare business problems, and gain consensus from internal peers and external customers.
Ability to understand and translate complex technical information to business audiences both internally and externally.
Proficiency in relevant software and analytical tools.
Willingness to fail fast when an approach doesn’t work and to quickly try something new.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in business, finance, economics or other related discipline.
Experience with operationalizing payer programs or initiatives.
Transferable experience with analytics tools, especially SAS technologies.
