81838BRJob Summary:The Sterile Processing Department Manager directs, plans, and manages the operations and resources of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This includes clinical and business operations as well as financial and human resources. This position will work closely with "Pod" managers in the O.R. to develop service-specific teams to increase operational efficiency, patient safety, and staff morale. The manager promotes the development of a motivated and cohesive team and supports educational strategies to enhance staff knowledge regarding processing practices and service delivery, as well as growth and developmental opportunities. The Manager will oversee sterile processing functions at Parnassus, Mount Zion, or Mission Bay and align operations with the Mission, Vision, and Values of UCSF Health. Develops Performance Improvement goals and facilitates staff, physician, and pod participation in projects. Teamwork, scheduling practices, educational needs, recognition, patient safety, operational efficiencies, and communication will be assessed and developed. Active involvement with the O.R. Managers, Pod Managers, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Schedulers, and SPD Leadership, as well as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and the Infection Control Department, is required to provide safe and efficient patient care, ensure efficient instrument turnaround time, and maintain regulatory compliance. Develop systems to ensure instrumentation is available for surgeries and that instruments are returned to SPD in optimal condition. Monitor services provided and collaborate in developing methods to improve utilization and efficiency.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership/management experience in development and sterile processing.Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a SPD tech in a clinical setting with specific knowledge of AAMI standards.Demonstrated knowledge of human resources management and staff development.Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal management including budget development.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify problems and implement effective solutions.Ability to implement process improvement strategies and quality initiatives.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with senior management and staff.Thorough knowledge of all aspects of sterile processing operations.Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management.Preferred Qualifications:Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with procurement, supply chain management, financial & budget management.Proficient with MS Windows applications and surgery scheduling systems.
