Role Overview:The Chief of Staff (CoS) is a key strategic advisor and right-hand person to the CEO, responsible for ensuring the executive office functions efficiently and effectively. This role involves overseeing cross-departmental projects, optimizing internal processes, and acting as a bridge between the executive team and other stakeholders. The CoS plays a pivotal role in managing the flow of communication, driving key initiatives, and ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.The ideal candidate will be an emotionally regulated professional with experience in the energy sector. They must be able to work within a complex multilayered nonprofit and be an excellent orator to multiple audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution: Assist the CEO in the development and execution of Southface's strategic priorities. Track progress and ensure alignment across departments.
Project Management: Lead and coordinate special projects and initiatives from the executive office, ensuring timely completion and delivery of key outcomes.
Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external communications, filtering and prioritizing incoming requests to the CEO.
Meeting Preparation & Follow-Up: Prepare agendas, reports, and presentations for leadership meetings. Ensure follow-up on action items and decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with department heads to ensure organizational alignment and facilitate communication across the leadership team.
Operational Support: Manage the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of the CEO's office, including scheduling, meeting coordination, and travel logistics.
Leadership: Provide leadership in setting the tone for company culture, guiding the executive team in fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Crisis Management: Assist the CEO in managing urgent or sensitive matters, ensuring that responses are well-coordinated and aligned with initiative and organizational goals.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
7+ years of experience in a strategic advisory or management role.
5-7 years of experience working with budgets.
3-5 years of public speaking experience.
Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and large-scale projects.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
