Job Description Summary
The General Manager will coordinate, direct and manage day to day operations of the hotel and is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, guest and associate satisfaction and effectiveness and efficiencies. The General Manager is also responsible for creating a longer term strategy for the business positioning of the hotel and its components, as well as the long term capital investment plan in partnership with ownership.
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work directly with the hotel’s leadership team to manage all activities of the property including Human Resources/Employee Relations, Operations, Maintenance, Sales and Marketing, Revenue Management and Financial Management.
Work closely with the corporate leadership team to meet and exceed desired results in all areas.
Sets the tone of the hotel assuring Sonesta culture and values are known and lived.
Direct and manage property operations to assure optimum performance and continual improvement in the five Key Results Areas (guest service, employees, sales and marketing, property appearance, and profit/financial control).
Assure Human Resource policies and procedures are followed, and human capital is optimized.
Ensure that product quality standards are met in all areas of the hotel as it relates to the appearance, levels of maintenance and cleanliness; establishes and maintains preventative maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel.
This position is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, guest and associate satisfaction and effectiveness and efficiencies.
Oversees the guest service function to ensure corrective action is taken to solve guest complaints and ensure superior guest service is delivered.
Must be able to communicate with corporate office and take direction.
Establishes trust and ongoing communication with Ownership and Asset Management.
Ability to establish trust with local Home Owners Association Board of Directors.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. As a senior leader within the company, the General Manager may be called upon to participate in company wide initiatives consistent with a growth oriented company.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.
Five years as a General Manager (Rooms and Food & Beverage) background.
Experience with Condo HOAs (preferred).
Advanced analytical skills to create and interpret Return on Investment analysis.
Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
Strong Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel.
Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
Ability to travel including some overnight travel is required.
Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
Frequently handling objects and equipment.
Will be required to work mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays.
