To be successful in this role, the seasoned writer and strategist will need to have a background in financial services, editorial skills, working knowledge of the various mediums used to distribute content and be capable of crafting engaging and tailored content that is relevant to our clients.The role will be responsible for setting and executing our overall content marketing strategy across the firm, with a goal of maintaining, attracting, and engaging targeted and broad audiences. This individual will craft industry-specific and client focused content, optimize our marketing channels while sustaining brand consistency. This person will also maintain KPIs, data, metrics, analytics and meaningful ways to measure results. They will build a team of writers who are focused on collateral, thought leadership content, website copy, articles, video scripts, presentation, social media posts and additional content.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Strong management, project management oversight and communication skillsBring creative energy, knowledge of industry “best practices”, have an ear for appropriate tone and an eye for visual story tellingApply editing, and writing skills to conceive, develop, and create thought leadership in multiple formats including; web, social media, video, client newsletters and marketing materialAbility to stand back and assess which are the best tool or medium to communicate a message to a targeted audienceMust be familiar with long form and short form writing, how to best leverage social media, crafting messages for video, engaging in developing digital thought leadership and overseeing the firm’s client newsletterMap out a content strategy that celebrates the firm’s brand, supports and extends marketing initiatives while determining which methods work best across all business lines, continuous evolvement of strategy is a mustDevelop a functional content calendar throughout the enterprise verticals, and defining the owners in each vertical to particular persona groupsKnowledge of how to manage writers, editors, content strategists; be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and styleSupervise the maintenance of content inventories and matricesEnsure consistent global experience and implement appropriate localization/translation strategiesEnsure that the content being created is helping to drive the firm’s business goalsEstablish and enforce editorial standardsCreate a distribution strategyHave creative vision, collaboration skills, the ability to understand and work with stakeholders, and the ability to see the big picture for this roleCapture metrics to measure the effectiveness of the firm’s content and retool approaches based on the resultsAdditional responsibilities as requestedQualifications:Experience working in a matrix environment with ability to navigate different constituents and leverage different toolsStrong written, graphic and verbal communications skills in multiple mediaAbility to adjust tone and message for specific audiences and diverse formatsExperience writing and editing documents with a range of complexity from social media posts to thought leadership pieces and brochuresProblem solver who can juggle a lot of different tasks at one timeA leader, planner and strategic thinkerStrong project management and prioritization skillsAttention to detail and ability to edit, proofread and achieve quality standardsAbility to collaborate with and influence others across multiple functionsFluency in web analytics tools and leading social media monitoring platformsA willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies on the flyBachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field requiredMaster’s Degree preferred10 years of experience in content strategy development and delivery, including familiarity with financial markets5+ years of financial content writing preferredWilliam Blair is an equal opportunity employer.
