DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process.Here at DGS, we truly Do Great Service… Consider joining our team!GRADE24POSITION DUTIESDirector of Information Technology (IT)Position is Open Until FilledSalary Range: $121,353 - $149,781 (depending on experience and qualifications)Primary office location: Baltimore, MarylandThis is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority (“at-will”).The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) is looking to hire a talented and experienced information technology leader to serve as our Director of Information Technology (IT). This position oversees and manages DGS’ Technology Management Office, and supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the Department by providing executive management and technical direction on all aspects of information technology within the agency. The IT Director also serves as a principal advisor to the Secretary’s Office, executives, and senior staff regarding the application of information technology and communications resources in accordance with the Department’s goals and objectives; works with executive management to develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards throughout the agency; and represents DGS externally in official matters related to information technology. The IT Director serves as the primary liaison between the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) and DGS.Functions include:Direct, manage and coordinate all aspects of information technology activities according to applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and DGS customer service standards.Define the overall role of information technology in achieving DGS’ IT goals, and serve as DGS’s chief technical advisor on information technology resource management and enhancement.Oversee the development of DGS’s Information Technology Master Plan (ITMP) and Project Requests (ITPR).Manage partnerships with contractual information technology contractors.Work with IT personnel to establish and maintain a centralized inventory system for the Department’s hardware, software, and peripherals.Establish, implement, evaluate, and revise departmental information management and technology policies, procedures, and performance standards in coordination with executive management.Represent DGS at various meetings and on various commissions, and in the role of Data Officer at monthly and quarterly meetings.Other functions and projects as needed to accomplish the high-level information technology goals and objectives for the Department.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer information technology, information security, cybersecurity, or a related field.Five (5) years of experience working in an information technology environment (IT) supporting IT initiatives, budgets, procurements, and IT projects, including two (2) years of direct management of IT technical staff and resources.Experience analyzing IT resource needs and formulating feasible recommendations regarding technology solutions.Ability to communicate effectively with staff, a variety of customers, and vendor representatives.Any of the following certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification; IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL); Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), Certified Chief Information Officer (CCIO), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).BENEFITSThe State of Maryland offers a generous benefits package that includes:Tuition reimbursement for those who qualifyFlexible work schedules and telework opportunities for many positionsFree mass transit in Baltimore & AnnapolisGenerous paid leave that increases with years of servicePaid holidaysHealth coverage with low out-of-pocket costsEmployee & employer contributory pension planClick on the link below for more information.STATE OF MARYLAND BENEFITSFURTHER INSTRUCTIONSTO APPLY:Interested applicants should e-mail a resume and cover letter to dgs.resumes@maryland.gov – include “IT Director” in the subject line of the e-mail.For questions, call our HR Office at 410-767-4985.For more information about DGS, please visit:
