At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance. WHOOP empowers users to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. Our wearable device tracks key physiological metrics such as heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep quality to provide personalized insights into users' fitness, health, and recovery.
As an Android Engineer on the Health team, you will help build and maintain exciting features across our three core pillars at WHOOP (Strain, Sleep & Recovery) and connect members to our powerful data science algorithms through beautiful visualizations. You will help our members understand all aspects of their health: physical, mental, emotional, and hormonal, and guide them in ways to understand their physiology and empower them to take an active role in their health journey. The Health team works with cutting-edge technology and research in the health and wellness industry to develop life-changing features, like WHOOP’s brand new pregnancy feature, and develops novel measurements, such as WHOOP's stress monitoring feature.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in a cross-functional team that collaborates closely with the data science, product, and software engineering teams at WHOOP. Utilize knowledge of Kotlin and Java to develop and maintain product features and communicate with a RESTful backend. Document new features and architecture. Contribute to new feature ideation, planning, and development. Analyze and monitor user metrics and feedback to determine crash rate or potential bugs and to improve engagement. Participate in the release process including getting the app built, managing build variants, signing, sending and testing through Firebase, and submitting to the App store. Self-organize using productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Github. QUALIFICATIONS:
Product-minded engineer with empathy for the customer experience. Possess a strong willingness to learn and grow rapidly across Android and external systems. Experience in building native Android apps in a professional environment. Knowledge of Android application structure and components. You are a team player who thrives on continuous learning and direct feedback. Experience using best-practice mobile architecture and modular design, including patterns such as MVVM.
