You'll be part of a close-knit and high-performing leadership team reporting to the CIO, and you will lead a team of first-rate professionals who manage our servers, networks, storage, and endpoints as well as AD and M365.
TriMet IT is in the first year of a multi-year initiative, "IT 3.0", to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and resiliency of our operations. The Director, IT Operations and Infrastructure provides leadership and management of the team responsible for the engineering, design, planning, installation, and upgrades of all enterprise-wide IT infrastructure. This position ensures that services are appropriate, effective, robust, and resilient. The Director establishes engineering standards and strategic and tactical direction for infrastructure.
This role requires being onsite three (3) days per week.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.
Essential Functions1. Ensures that infrastructure services are appropriate, effective, robust, and resilient. Directs the Infrastructure and Operations support teams that manage and support all aspects of: enterprise server and storage environments including virtual systems, eMail services, and backups on premise and cloud solutions; desktop equipment and mobile devices including virtual desktop technologies; data center and communication room equipment across the agency including fiber and copper allocation and inventory; telecom and phone systems including IVRs and call center systems; and enterprise wide networking infrastructure such as MAN, WAN and LAN.
2. Stays apprised of progress, issues, and approaches of IT projects at all phases of development and implementation.
3. Evaluates new technologies, processes, and methods to ensure alignment with best practices in technology infrastructure, information security, and system operations.
4. Ensures infrastructure is properly architected and sized to deliver reliable performance and ensure failover and recovery systems are in place, replacement schedules are followed, monitoring/alerting programs are in place, and proper inventories are maintained.
5. Control, monitor, and approve budgets and operational forecasts for department, including capital expenditures, labor resources, and materials and supplies (M&S); accountable for monitoring own department. Identifies opportunities for containing costs, and may be responsible for increasing revenue. Accountability for budget includes direct reports’ monitoring.
6. Provide overall leadership to managers in the selection, training, supervision, assignment, evaluation, and counseling of staff. Model and hold staff accountable for exemplary customer service through open communication, employee participation, performance management, and professional development. Oversees the work of contractors and consultants.
7. Serves on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees, representing IT Operations and Infrastructure.
8. Ensures processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively. Ensures accountability and compliance with all current and applicable state and federal laws, agency policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
Position RequirementsA Bachelor's Degree is required with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology being preferred.
Eight (8) years of total credited experience.
Five (5) years of network or systems management in a complex environment are required.
Three (3) years of management experience in information systems group in a technically oriented computer and data communications environment.
Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license and good driving record in line with TriMet policy (required).
Or any equivalent combination of training or experience.
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary RangeMinimum: $161,877.00Maximum: $242,817.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
