SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Family Advocate is primarily responsible for providing families with linkages to community resources, creating and following up on family assessments, and supportive services to families in the program, including ERSEA, Education, and Health requirements.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma. Must be willing to pursue Family Service Worker certification upon hire.

EXPERIENCE

Six months plus experience in the human services field. Two years of experience with children and families preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a team member. Able to work flexible hours to meet families' schedules, including evenings and weekends. Driving requirements.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills.

CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.

Ability to work as a team member.

Able to work flexible hours to meet families' schedules, including evenings and weekends.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and use of a personal vehicle to transport clients, as needed, as well as a willingness to travel in a personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
