We collect detailed, employee-level data on an array of attributes directly from employers that covers a significant share of the US and global workforce in technology, life sciences, financial services, and other sectors. In addition, we are rapidly ingesting a wide variety of other labor market-relevant data in structured and unstructured forms. We are looking for a labor economist who can use their econometric skills and knowledge of labor markets to help us extract novel insights from this unique trove of data.
What the day will look like
Brainstorm innovative ways to use our unique data to answer business problems
Provide technical leadership in a team that generates business insights, identify impactful recommendations, and communicate the findings to clients
Lead the design and integration of novel data sets and third-party APIs
Create advanced statistical and machine-learning models to provide specific recommendations to business leaders
Communicate complex quantitative analyses in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Work in a team, take initiative, and share your knowledge with others
Skills and experience that will lead to success
PhD in Economics and relevant research experience
Proficiency with Python
Strong econometrics skills
Curiosity and a desire to work on applied problems
Strong communication skills
Preferred skills and experience
Experience with job posting and skills data
Familiarity with machine learning methods for social sciences
Experience with a collaborative development environment like GitHub
Proficiency with SQL/SSIS and ETL processes
Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) for data summarization and classification
A passion for data visualization

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $125,000 - $170,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary.
