We are driven by our core values: respect, innovation, and collaboration.About the RoleThe Associate General Counsel – Compliance is an integral part of Latham’s Office of the General Counsel team and will be responsible for overseeing key areas of legal compliance within the United States, while leading and managing U.S. compliance initiatives, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local laws. This role will be located in either our New York or Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Responsibilities & QualificationsOther key responsibilities include:Leading and managing U.S. compliance initiatives, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local lawsDeveloping and implementing policies and procedures to support compliance objectivesCollaborating with cross-functional teams to address complex legal issues and support business goals relating to complianceConducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategiesRepresenting the organization in interactions with regulatory bodies and external stakeholdersProviding training and support to internal teams and others in the firm on compliance-related mattersStaying informed of legal developments and advising on potential impacts to the organizationOverseeing at least one U.S. compliance program, ensuring effective implementationCreating and delivering compliance initiatives firm-wideProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWe’d love to hear from you if you:Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor junior lawyersDisplay excellent legal, analytical, and communication skills with minimal supervision neededDemonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focusAnd have:A bachelor’s degreeA Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolAn active bar membershipA minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in legal compliance, preferably within a large law firm or corporate environmentA minimum of two (2) years of experience managing or advising external clients on a law firm or corporate regulatory compliance programA minimum of two (2) years of experience working directly with law firm partners, law firm clients, or senior leadership in a corporate environmentBenefits & Additional InformationSuccessful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
