One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. MDA is seeking a
Principal/Sr. Principal Test Systems Engineer
with demonstrated ability to lead development of new technologies to support our innovative MDA team in support of emerging supercomputing technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support the installation, integration, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom equipment used to further research efforts on superconducting microelectronic devices.
Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate equipment issues to support system build-out and sell-off.
Communicate project status to the Integration and Test (I&T) IPT Lead.
Collaborate with research scientists and systems engineers to perform system architecture characterization studies on various system components.
Design, develop, and implement testing methods for individual pieces of equipment (both custom and COTS) and entire systems.
Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
This position requires full time work onsite at our Linthicum, MD OR Annapolis Junction, MD location.
This position can be filled as a Principal Test Systems Engineer or Sr. Principal Test Systems Engineer.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Test Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
Working knowledge in one of the following languages: Matlab, Python, C, or C++.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to use basic hand tools.
Ability to communicate effectively to team members both verbally and in writing.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Clearance:
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Test Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience.
Working knowledge in one of the following languages: Matlab, Python, C, or C++.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to use basic hand tools.
Ability to communicate effectively to team members both verbally and in writing.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Clearance:
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
Bachelor’ Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field specializing in RF microwave engineering, RF test engineering, and/or RF systems engineering with 2 years of experience, or 0 years of experience with a Master’ Degree.
Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
Working knowledge of standard design components: filters, couplers, splitters, amplifiers, etc.
Familiarity with cryogenic test systems: dilution Refrigeration, 4 Kelvin cryo-coolers, Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigeration (ADR) and liquid helium emersion.
Salary Range:
$102,400 - $160,900
Salary Range 2:
$127,000 - $199,600
