to join our team in

to lead and work on various Power Substation and Distribution Engineering projects. The

Distribution Engineer

reports to our Engineering Manager and the position requires working independently on fast-paced technically complex design projects.

Distribution Engineers

are responsible for supporting or leading Distribution engineering project teams, with the preparation of field notes, specifications, and drawings for the routing, design, and execution of Distribution level projects. AtkinsRéalis has the depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects and the urgent transition to a low-carbon economy.How will you contribute to the team?Work within a Distribution team to develop efficient and reliable detailed designs of overhead and/or underground electric Distribution systems.Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules, budget, and quality requirements to ensure successful project completion.Perform site visits and system walkdowns, estimating, and attending project meetings.Accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including AtkinsRéalis’s policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.Design of Distribution level construction packages for both overhead and underground construction, including selection of Distribution system equipment, and utilizing GIS information to aid in design.Preparation of engineering calculations, including pole loading, guying, transformer sizing, conductor loading/sagging, load studies, and voltage studies.Preparation of specifications for material and equipment selection.Deliver accurate and thorough electrical designs that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet prudent engineering practices.Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability.Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.Provide construction support including resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.Maintain complete project documentation with respect to engineering studies and calculations, all design packages, as-built requirements, and return data information.Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support projects such as other engineering disciplines, Drafting, Project Management, etc.Mentor, train, and provide guidance to developing engineers and designers within the department.What will you contribute?Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Distribution electrical design; Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Distribution electrical design for Senior Position.A Professional Engineer (PE) registration (or eligible for registration).Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus.Knowledge of modern power systems, including Distribution power flow, overhead and underground construction methods, and Distribution system equipment.Experience conducting Distribution field inspections.Strong client focus.A high level of interpersonal communication skills, including a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.Knowledge of applicable industry standards including the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and IEEE.Ability to perform independently and in a team environment and provide project ownership.Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS mapping software, and other applicable Distribution Design tools.Work Environment & Physical Demands:Additional hours may be necessary as workload dictates.Travel to client sites may be required.What we offer at AtkinsRéalis:AtkinsRéalis realizes that health, mental and financial well-being are all equally needed to achieve balance in life.
