Forbes America's Best Startup EmployerJoin our smart, fun, and humble team to experience the most rewarding career of your life!Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and innovative Product Manager to lead the development and growth of our Payroll capabilities within the OpenGov Financials suite. This role requires a deep understanding of payroll processes, public sector financial regulations, and software product development. You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, customer success, and government stakeholders to deliver a high-value product that simplifies payroll management for local and regional governments.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Payroll offeringEnsure the payroll solution meets all relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., tax reporting, pension contributions, labor laws) for the government sector.Conduct market research and engage with customers to identify needs, pain points, and opportunities for innovation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, sales, and customer success to deliver high-quality product features.Prioritize features and create detailed product requirements documentsAnalyze product performance metrics and user feedback to drive continuous improvementStay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and public sector payroll regulationsParticipate in customer-facing activities, including demos, discovery sessions, and industry eventsContribute to the overall product strategy of the OpenGov Financials suiteQualifications5+ years of product management experience, ideally with Enterprise SaaS solutions.Deep understanding of payroll systems, public sector financial management, tax regulations, and reporting requirements for government entities. We are seeking at least 3 years of experience in the Payroll product domain.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsOutstanding communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to translate complex customer needs into clear product requirementsExperience with Agile development methodologiesExperience rolling out products and supporting a Go-to-Market organization of 100 or more professionals.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience required; MBA is a plusBonus ExperienceFamiliarity with tax and labor requirements and regulations in the public sector.Knowledge of financial management software or HR/payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday).Familiarity with government operations and decision-making processes$100,000 - $160,000 a year
On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.
The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
