Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
to work on within host mathematical and evolutionary modeling to understand HIV persistence and cure.

ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will develop mathematical models that focus on understanding the interplay between viral evolution and population dynamics during the course of HIV infection (see:
https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2109172119 ). Additionally, the dynamics of T cell receptor sequences may be integrated into HIV models and/or studied separately. A particular goal is to understand seeding and persistence of the HIV reservoir, the primary barrier to cure, and which therapeutics could be useful during various stages of infection based on dominant mechanisms of persistence. Post docs will be encouraged and given opportunities to collaborate with laboratory-based scientists (including biology and immunology), both in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division (VIDD) at Fred Hutch, and externally.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD degree from a quantitative field such as physics, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, population genetics, ecology, computational biology etc.
Strong numerical programming skills in Python, Matlab and/or R.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with C++ coding, differential equation-based models and/or Bayesian phylogenetics.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,728 to $150,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
