Hawkeye Hotels is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Sales supporting the Hampton Inn Iowa City/University Area.
The main responsibilities of this position include promoting the image and services of the company to achieve maximum growth through gaining new clients and contracts.
Primary job duties include but are not limited to:
Follow up leads by visiting prospective clients regularly.
Submit timely and accurate sales reports in terms of actual results of room bookings through cold calling, internet marketing, telephone solicitation, and community involvement.
Achieve or better budgeted sales targets.
Identify prospective clients' exact needs through questioning, observation, and a full sales survey.
Act upon opportunities to achieve maximum RevPar through yield management strategies and communicate with the Property General Manager and the Revenue Manager as needed.
Entertain prospective clients, combining this with visits to existing satisfied customers where possible.
Liaise closely with operational staff on all details for a prospective new contract and gain their agreement on all details.
Maintain communication with the client once the contract is opened and show ongoing interest in the operation.
Analyze statistics to identify key sales areas, problems, and success rates.
Collaborate with Team Members to ensure ongoing positive and proactive approaches towards the property’s guests.
Research prospective client details to ensure a professional approach.
Monitor and be aware of competitor activity in the assigned market.
Present a realistic proposal to a prospective client after thoroughly researching cost factors and ensuring that the proposal is achievable.
Be aware of new business opportunities and proactively react for the benefit of the properties.
Perform other duties as necessary to achieve successful marketing of the property as directed by the General Manager, Regional Director of Sales, and other management personnel.
Refer business to our Hawkeye Hotels sister properties of a sales contact who conducts business within our other geographical markets.
Maintain an active role within local community organizations to build professional rapport.
The right candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Qualification in hotel sales or related hospitality industry desired.
Management or senior supervisory experience in hotels or experience in the industry with transferable skills.
Proven ability to sell.
Communication Skills:
Must be able to read, write and understand the English language, write concise reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar; speak with poise, voice control and confidence using correct English and pleasant voice tone.
Must be able to conduct and manage meetings, as well as speak to large groups as needed.
Ability to communicate with staff members who speak/write limited English.
Must have an outgoing, sales-minded personality with the ability to close.
Accounting Skills:Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
