Assistant Professor, Dept of Geological Sciences, Surficial Processes/Engineering GeologyDepartment Summary:
The Department of Geological Sciences invites qualified applicants for a tenure-track teaching position beginning Fall 2025. The department currently has four full-time tenured faculty members with expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including geochemistry, geophysics, structural geology and tectonics, igneous and metamorphic petrology, sedimentary geology, and earth history. The department is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. The department has extensive classroom and laboratory space in the Dana Mohler-Faria Center for Science and Mathematics, and has recently procured state-of-the-art equipment, including XRD, XRF, and gas chromatograph machines.Bridgewater State University was awarded a 5-year NSF Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) grant, which supports alliances among institutions of higher education to design and implement strategies that increase the number of historically underrepresented STEM faculty and promote systemic change. In addition to teaching and research, the successful candidate will be required to provide service to both the department and the university through various governance committees and to serve as the academic advisor to a diverse group of majors in the department.Required Qualifications:
A PhD in the Geological Sciences by August 31, 2025. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with a strong background in surficial processes, hydrogeology, and engineering geology are preferred.Special Conditions for Eligibility:
