PRIMARY FUNCTIONResponsible for overseeing the academic program, under the direction of the campus principal, ensure sound implementation of curriculum and staff development to improve student achievement.QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification:Master’s degree in educational administrationValid Texas principal or other appropriate certificateCertified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiserSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Working knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectivenessAbility to manage budget and personnelAbility to implement policy and proceduresWorking knowledge in Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Resource SystemAbility to interpret dataExcellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Two years classroom teacher experienceTwo years instructional leadership experienceSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriateEVALUATIONPerformance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Assist the school principal with the overall administration of the instructional program at the campus level and coordinate assigned student activities and services.Provide leadership in the identification, evaluation, and selection of instructional programs, resources, and equipment for increased student achievement.Facilitate improved student performance through the professional growth of teachers and staff as measured by course work and assessment data.Provide quality instructional support and feedback on the instructional effectiveness of the campus.Work with the principal to develop and implement the master schedule.Assist in designing and providing professional development based on data analysis and campus needs.Meet regularly with academic department heads and assistant principals to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum.Manage Response to Intervention (RTI) programs including assisting with the identification of at-risk students and coordinating early intervention strategies.Plan and coordinate tutorials, interventions, additional support and resources, and other instructional programs for students in need of assistance.Facilitate and assist with the development of an effective campus improvement plan based on student needs.Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that the findings are used to make instructional programs and services more effective.Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers.Increase awareness of the school's guidelines and expectations for student learning and achievement among students, staff, and parents.Maintain confidentiality.Reliable attendance and punctuality.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and the Superintendent of Schools.WORK ENVIRONMENTMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stressEnvironment: Indoors including but not limited to: classroom, cafeteria, library, or other campus location. A remote location in the event of a declared emergency, temporary closure, or closure.
