Position Summary

Oversee the daily operations of a clinical research study in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This position will directly supervise research assistants, coordinate subject enrollment and conduct study follow-up. In the emergency department, this job will conduct screening, enrolling and collecting data. Studies are primarily focused on patients suffering from acute emergency conditions therefore exact enrollment times of research subjects are unpredictable. The research coordinator will be responsible for making sure that all clinical research activities are conducted in a professional manner that is compliant with all human research subject regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist the principal investigator and clinical research coordinator with management of day-to-day operations related to clinical research projects in the ED.

Maintain daily communication with research assistants regarding enrollment.

Maintain daily communication with the PI and clinical research coordinator to complete tasks as assigned.

Ensure high quality data collection activities by monitoring screening, enrollment and completeness of data collected on a weekly basis and report this information to the PI and clinical research coordinator.

Facilitate communication between the Institutional Review Board/Office of Human Research to meet study requirements.

Keep up-to-date and organized regulatory binders for study.

Record results of research studies while in the ED into data collection systems.

Ensure all day-to-day operations of research studies are in order.

Other duties as assigned by PI.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

BA or BS degree.

Experience:

Prior experience in clinical research projects. Computer literacy with Microsoft Word and Excel is required for this position.

Physical Requirements:

Sit, walk, reach, bend, or twist for long periods of time in a clinical setting.

Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. as part of the role.

Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.

Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
