We are seeking an experienced Director of Foundation Relations to join our dynamic team. This newly created role is responsible for managing and expanding our portfolio of foundation donors and securing funding to support our mission to eliminate family homelessness across the United States. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director will prospect new funding opportunities, manage ongoing relationships with foundations, prepare compelling proposals, and ensure effective communication and reporting to the leadership team.
The Director of Foundation Relations is joining Family Promise at an exciting inflection point as affordable housing and homelessness continue to be pressing issues in the United States. As the national leader addressing this crisis for families, Family Promise is looking to grow its impact through increased investments from institutional partners. The Director will work nationally and seek funding as part of a larger Development team responsible for raising $10 million annually. This person will have significant support from the organization’s leadership and program team for cultivation and solicitation activities.

Director of Foundation Relations' Contributions to the Organization's Success:
Serve as the relationship lead for all foundation partners and prospects.
Create an organizational strategy for foundations, including measurement and execution of fundraising goals.
Manage all aspects of revenue generation, including prospecting and pipeline management, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for foundations.
Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team and program staff to understand programmatic and organizational needs to ensure proposed projects align with organization’s strategic goals.
Coordinate the writing of compelling proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports. This may include working with the finance and program teams on budgets to ensure projects are feasible and align with funding requirements.
Assist in preparing solicitation materials, gift agreements, and presentation materials.
Work with marketing and communications on partner related items – impact storytelling, press releases, social media, and partner recognition.
Stay current on trends in philanthropy and funding to identify emerging opportunities and potential shifts in foundation priorities.
Work collaboratively with Development operations to maintain and update foundation records in donor database including interactions, grant awards, and reports to ensure compliance.
Report regularly on fundraising activities and progress against revenue goals.
Our ideal candidate will be/ have:
Minimum of 5 years' experience managing foundation partner relationships including a history of meeting or exceeding personal revenue goals.
Passion for Family Promise's mission - to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
Experience with grant writing and management, donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation.
Excellent project management skills.
Familiarity with CRM/donor management software.
Proven competency with data analysis and donor research.
Familiarity with budget management and project funding.
Experience making presentations to audiences of various sizes.
Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate organizational values/goals and programs and work collaboratively with staff, external partners/donors and volunteers.
Excellent written and persuasion skills.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and take initiative.
Ability to be a team player and interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
Professional, conscientious, friendly, and enthusiastic.
Ability to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and to work and make judgments independently.
Ability to travel domestically.
Proficiency with Office 365 applications.
Bachelor's Degree or higher.
Valid Driver’s License.
Additional information about the role:
Work may be flexible: partially on site in Summit NJ, hybrid, or primarily remote, with some travel.
