If you can see yourself working side-by-side with a team of people who think and live “Off the Wall,” Vans just may be the place for you.A day in the life of a Designer, Lifestyle Footwear Color & Trend at Vans looks a little like this.As the Footwear Designer for Color & Trend, you will oversee the themes, color, material and graphic direction for the Lifestyle Category with a focus on the Kids consumer. You will demonstrate your visionary ability to move the brand forward by working with both Product Managers and Product Designers, and provide global inspiration, direction and designs each season. You are well versed in the lifestyle product landscape and understand the spirit of skateboarding through a consumer’s lens of creativity and self-expression. You can confidently craft stories rooted in our seasonal Creative Vision by applying color and material to both vulcanized and cupsole footwear. You demonstrate multi-faceted agility, which includes designing for Kids, Juniors and Toddlers within tight and variable calendar timelines. Your consumer-centric sensibilities will lend a fresh perspective to our Kids assortments that will spark joy for children and parents and progress the brand forward.Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.You will visit the market to conduct market research, allowing you to build inspiration boards that set overall category design direction.In this position, you will play a critical role in promoting cross functional work and maintaining strong working relationships with footwear Developers, Product Managers and Product Designers.You will be responsible for ensuring product success and category business strategy; which includes interpreting international/domestic concepts and trends as it relates to the market demands and company image.You will be responsible for knowledge of material cost, components and ability to design into margin targets.You will have the responsibility for presenting your design assets for design reviews.Responsibilities also include adhering to all calendar dates.What do you need to succeed?We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3-5 years of experience and professional achievements.The foundation skills you will need in this position are:Inner workings of the design process, from trend research to design to cads and working with development counterparts.Experience working in Graphic Design and/or Color Design with awareness of Lifestyle Product Design.Knowledge of Womens consumer and market trends and ability to translate it into productWhat do we offer you?At Vans, we know you expect as much from us as we do from you.
