KABC Freelance Newscast Director

ABC7 Los Angeles is seeking a freelance Director to join our team to work on news and live local productions.Responsibilities:Director is responsible for all technical aspects of a live production using Ross Overdrive and Smart Shell camera control systems.Works directly with producers, reporters, and technical staff including playback editing, transmission, Master control and engineering.Responsible for clean execution of newscast while maintaining a positive, proactive attitude.Direct/T.D. any assigned Live newscast, webcast or post production, also stage manage as needed.Maintain production studio and control room.Basic Qualifications:Working experience with Ross Overdrive.Strong sense of newscast structure.Hands on experience operating in a computer assisted environment with the ability to work under pressure.Operation knowledge of DALET Newsroom systems a must.Interacts with various departments and requires exceptional organizational skills.Must be willing to work any shift.Minimum of 5 years’ Major Market experience.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Dalet, Xpression, and Ross switchers a plus.Knowledge of Ross Overdrive and Ross Overdrive Smart Shell camera system.Possess strong organizational skills, be self-motivated and have a good visual sense.Must be able to work well under pressure, thrive on deadlines and work a flexible schedule.Have the ability to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure.Required Education:
