The Middle East Institute (MEI) is searching for a Communications Assistant, with 1-2 years of experience preferably that includes experience managing social media platforms with a large following. The successful candidate will be creative, a team player, have a passion for digital storytelling, and work against tight deadlines.The Communications Assistant will report directly to the Director of Digital Communications. This position will support MEI’s communications efforts by creating digital content and supporting MEI’s media relations. The Communications Assistant will work closely with our policy experts and Development team to help execute MEI’s communications strategies and advance MEI’s mission of promoting knowledge and understanding about the Middle East.Responsibilities:
Produce and edit digital video explainersManage and edit engaging content for all social media platformsIdentify compelling stories based on content produced by MEI’s policy expertsHelp lead a social media strategy aimed at expanding MEI’s audience baseManage digital content around a calendar of major eventsSupport media relations by maintaining media listsSupport photography efforts when neededOther duties as assignedQualifications:
1-2 years of experience in digital communicationsExcellent writing and editing skillsFamiliarity with Middle East policy issuesAdobe Creative Cloud skills (Premiere Pro, InDesign, and Photoshop)Willingness to learn backend website managementInterest in international newsAbility to simplify complex issues and disseminate them through digital platformsPassion for storytellingBachelor’s degree in journalism, international relations, or a relevant fieldWhat we offer:
