This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Chief Inspector CEI for our Dallas, TX office.

Your Impact
Support Project Manager by working with contractors to inspect, document, and monitor activities to ensure compliance with specifications, plans, and other contract provisions.
Lead, oversee, and participate in inspecting work quality and materials used in a variety of projects.
Observe work during progress and upon completion for conformance to plans and specifications.
Verify contractors’ work for accuracy, proper methods, techniques, and compliance with standards.
Review daily work reports, sketches, measurements, photographs, and calculations for each pay item.
Coordinate materials testing personnel to ensure proper and prompt material testing to meet plan and contract requirements.
Understand and inspect Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
Coordinate potential field conflicts with Field Engineer and bring them to the Resident Engineer’s attention for resolution.
Ensure proper traffic control and barricades are is installed and maintained throughout the job site.
Make recommendations to management regarding construction and constructability issues.
Maintain detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations, including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work.
Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work.
Verify the dimensions of prepared and completed work.
Inspect the construction work and conduct field tests.
Track and measure completed work quantities for payment.
Perform survey checks.
Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules, and oversee their work and records.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High
s chool diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 11 years of inspection experience on TxDOT or other DOT projects.
Experience administering all phases of complex construction contracts.
Experience managing inspection teams of 5-15 inspectors and coordinating tasks of moderate size and complexity.
Experience as a CEI/CM Chief Inspector on Roadway and Bridge Construction Projects or prior roadway/bridge construction experience.
Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Extensive understanding of TxDOT specifications, construction standards and practices. and record-keeping requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make technical computations and calculations.
Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations.
Ability to assertively direct others in the field.
Willingness to travel to construction sites for extended periods and work outside of normal business hours.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Must be self-directed yet a team player, with a focus on quality, integrity, and success.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
