The YMCA of South Florida's Youth Development Broward STEP department is seeking dynamic individuals experienced in Security to join our Afterschool team as a School Monitor for various Special Needs sites. The School Monitor is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of actively participating students, campus, and staff during the program operation.Essential Functions:Visually observe student behavior during campus hours on school property.Visually and physically check that all gates and doors are locked at all times throughout the school property.Report serious disturbances to the campus administration and Program Director/Site Supervisor.Visually monitor campus buildings and grounds for the presence of outsiders on campus.Report to Program Director/Site Supervisor, students that are in the hallways during program time.Maintain a daily log of suspicious activities when monitoring campus and report to administration and Program Director/Site Supervisor.Physically patrol and monitor all campus buildings and grounds, including the perimeter.Determine the reason for the presence of outsiders on campus.Stop and question all students not in classrooms during program time.Monitor parking lots and student gathering areas before, during and after program.Report any safety or security problems to the administration and Program Director/Site Supervisor.Participate, successfully, in any training the program offers to increase the individual's skills and proficiency related to the position.Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director/Site Supervisor.Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.Must have a walkie-talkie at all times. Campus Monitors may not use personal cell phones while on patrol, including texting, social media, personal calls, checking the time, etc. In addition, may not use cellular headpieces, ear buds or wireless communication while on duty.Gate Safety Check Log must be completed daily.The gate safety check log, children's allergy list, emergency plan, emergency phone numbers, campus map, and a walkie-talkie must be with the Campus Monitor at all times.Visually check that all those on campus have a current badge. Those who do not have a badge must be stopped and escorted back to the single point of entry.Ensure all parents, students, and staff enter and exit through the front office single point of entry.Campus monitor will report to the Program Director/Site Supervisor of the program prior to shift and upon leaving at the end of the shift every day.Campus monitors will be responsible for all school board items assigned to them. They must store in a locked area assigned by the Program Director/Site Supervisor daily.Campus monitors must adhere to the required hours; however, must not exceed hours assigned per week.Time Management:Works 90% of schedule on the desk/Hands-on role.50% - Focused on executing Association protocols and performance metrics; team performance; reduction in cancellations.40% - Customer Service.Position Expectations:Ensures the team meets/exceeds sales, revenue targets, net unit growth every month.Position Profile:Outgoing personality enjoys speaking to people.Dependable character with great attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.Job Requirements:Must be at least 21 years of age.High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Organized and detail-oriented.Bi-lingual, English and Spanish, a plus.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Ability to interact with individuals at all levels.Certifications and Licenses:First Aid and CPR certificates by the time of employment or within ninety (90) days from the date of hire.As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.As a Drug-Free Workplace, all new hires must successfully complete a drug test.
