Key job responsibilitiesParticipate as an active member of the firmware team, developing and maintaining the firmware base of our robotic fleet and safety systems.Learn and master multiple components within the firmware environment, potentially including areas such as cameras, WiFi, security, navigation, obstacle avoidance, sensors, and more.Work with teams of high-caliber developers on critical products.Demonstrate best engineering practices, documentation, and ownership.You MUST have a strong desire to up-skill and self-develop.

A day in the lifeThe ideal candidate is a top-notch, collaborative embedded developer, passionate about building things and delivering solutions, and enjoys solving problems in innovative ways. As a part of the firmware development team, you will work on robotic control and safety systems to deliver features to enhance and maintain the most critical components of Amazon's Fulfillment solution. In addition to working on new products and ideas, you must have a strong desire to find issues and have the bias for action to drive the solution of these issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.High level of proficiency with C/C++ and Python.Hands-on system experience with Linux, preferably with direct kernel experience, device drivers, and multicore systems.Proven experience diagnosing and debugging complex, difficult, multi-variable system issues.Hands-on experience with embedded or real-time operating systems, such as Free RTOS, RT Linux, or Micrium.Has successfully performed as a team member or technical lead on a complex project.Proficient oral and written communication skills. Collaborates well in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.Architecture or development of robotic control systems.Experience with mechatronic command and control systems.Performed low-level board bring-up or developed HAL code or BSPs for custom hardware.Exposure to networking, communications systems, and data security.Understanding of RF and wireless communications, especially 802.11.Hands-on development with sensors such as cameras, 3DTOF sensors, or other vision systems.Experience developing safety-certified systems, especially experience with IEC 61508.Experience handling and analyzing large data sets and with AWS.
