Role
Chameleon Consulting Group is looking for an amazingly talented Network Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to play a crucial part in building a platform to support cyber development activities and the eventual coordination and orchestration of cyber missions. This project will be focused on prototyping solutions that will be aligned with the long term vision of the government's ideal architecture.
The Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures that are integral to our cyber development platforms. The role requires deep expertise in network architecture, combined with a strong understanding of platform operations, cyber defense, and security protocols.
Responsibilities
Design and maintain network infrastructure for cyber platforms:
Build and sustain secure, high-performance network systems that support cyber development platforms.
Integrate and support cyber development / operations platforms:
Collaborate with platform engineers to ensure seamless integration of cybersecurity tools (e.g., SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS, threat intelligence platforms) into the network infrastructure.
Network security and threat defense:
Implement and manage security measures such as network segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, and access control policies that protect platform operations from cyber threats.
Monitor and optimize network performance:
Continuously monitor network traffic using network performance tools and cyber defense platforms to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks and security threats.
Support cyber incident response:
Work closely with the incident response team to provide network expertise during cyber incidents, ensuring rapid containment and remediation.
Maintain platform and network documentation:
Ensure up-to-date network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures are documented, especially related to cyber platforms.
Collaborate across teams:
Work with cyber security engineers, system administrators, and platform engineers to ensure the resiliency, performance, and security of cyber platforms.
Required Qualifications
Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance (note, only US Citizens are eligible for security clearances)
3+ years of experience in network engineering (preferred focus on cyber defense/operations)
Hands-on experience with secure routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and network access control systems
Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and security protocols. Deep understanding of firewall configurations, VPN technologies, and security appliances (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools / Proficiency with IDS/IPS systems, packet capture analysis tools, and SIEM platforms
Knowledge of wireless networking, VoIP, and cloud networking
Ability to collaborate as a team but execute independently
Comfortable in a high-trust, adaptable, team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Current US TS/SCI security clearance
Experience with SDN (Software Defined Networking) and network virtualization for secure environments
Knowledge of DoD or government compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs)
Familiarity with advanced threat detection methods and emerging cyber threats
Experience in network forensics and incident investigation
Familiarity with network virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
Experience with load balancers, WAN optimization, and network segmentation
Familiarity with cloud-based security measures (AWS, Azure)
Experience communicating with customers and end-users
