tip sheet .The Department of Health Information Management (HIM) has exciting Remote Full-Time opportunities for the following roles. The primary focus of this role is to capture all encounter-specific diagnoses and procedure codes for accurate reimbursement, data collection, and research purposes.Inpatient Coder 1
Minimum 2 years of current ICD-10 acute care facility coding experience.High School Diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Health Information Technology or Coding program.Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).Responsible for all straightforward IP accounts.Inpatient Coder 2
Minimum 3 years of ICD-10-CM/PCS acute care facility coding experience.High School Diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Health Information Technology or Coding program.Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).Responsible for all straightforward IP accounts, interim accounts, and Cardiovascular Special Procedures.Inpatient Coder 3
Minimum 5 years of ICD-10-CM/PCS acute care facility coding experience.High School Diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Health Information Technology or Coding program.Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).Responsible for all straightforward IP accounts, interim accounts, Cardiovascular Special Procedures, and working with claim and payor denials.Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitudes for Inpatient Coders 1, 2 and 3:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize workload while consistently meeting ≥ 95% productivity and accuracy standards.Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.Efficient communication skills - interpersonal, verbal, and written.Critical thinking skills and ability to interpret, assess, and evaluate provider documentation.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission, and more.Patient safety is a top priority.
