JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing firewall solutions to protect our clients' networks. This includes configuring firewall rules, VPNs, and security appliances, as well as conducting regular reviews and updates to maintain optimal performance and security. You will also troubleshoot firewall issues, collaborate with IT security teams to enforce security policies, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Additionally, you will document configurations and generate reports on firewall performance and security incidents.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO
Design and implement firewall solutions that align with our clients' security policies and regulatory requirements.
Configure firewall rules, VPNs, and other security appliances to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
Conduct regular reviews and updates of firewall configurations to ensure optimal performance and security.
Provide assistance in reviewing firewall logs and network traffic for suspicious activity or security breaches.
Perform routine maintenance and updates to firewall hardware and software.
Troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related issues promptly to minimize customer's downtime and impact on business operations.
Collaborate with VLCM's and customer's IT security teams to develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures.
Ensure that firewall configurations comply with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
Respond to security incidents and breaches, including analyzing firewall logs, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
Participate in incident response drills and contribute to the development of incident response plans.
Create detailed documentation of firewall configurations, changes, and incidents.
Generate regular reports on firewall performance, security incidents, and compliance status for management review.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security, with a focus on firewall management.
Hands-on experience with firewall technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point, etc.
Strong understanding of network protocols, security principles, and best practices.
Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security appliances.
Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools and network monitoring solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, Palo Alto PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
