Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Chief Engineer and the 1 st
Engineer as necessary in the operating, maintaining and repairing of all vessel engineering systems and processes:
Diesel propulsion and electric generating systemsDeck hydraulic and pneumatic systemsFuel and lubrication systemsRefrigeration plantSewage treatmentWater making/desalinization systemVacuum sanitation systemHeating and ventilation systems
Assist with all USCG manning, watch standing, and operating regulationsAssist in monitoring of maintenance programs on all main systems and engineering systemsAssist in maintaining ship fuel and discharge logsAssist in maintaining spare parts inventorySupport all ASC policies and company philosophiesAttend and participate in all company sponsored training programs as well as outside training in management or engineering related coursesMaintain the vessel as Det Norske Veritas Class Society and regulatory society requirementsSkill and Experience Required
Capable of assisting with all USCG manning, watch standing, and operating regulationsCapable of assisting in monitoring of maintenance programs on all main systems and engineering systemsCapable of assisting in maintaining ship fuel and discharge logsCapable of assisting in maintaining spare parts inventoryStrictly supports all ASC policies and company philosophiesAttends and participates in all company sponsored training programs as well as outside training in management or engineering related coursesMaintains the vessel as Det Norske Veritas Class Society and regulatory society requirementsQMED RequiredPhysical Ability
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug testsMust be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob’s ladderMust climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zeroAbility to work in confined spacesWork Schedule
12 hours or more per day for the duration of the trip, including loading and unloading.Ability to work at sea for extended periods of timePerform tie-up, shipyard and in-port work for required maintenance as directed by ASC management on a 12-hour per day schedule
