Job Summary:
The Walt Disney Company , a global leader in entertainment and technology, seeks a Senior Manager for The Walt Disney Studios' Business Platforms and Services Data Team. We are seeking a visionary Senior Manager of Data Engineering to lead our dynamic team, designed for a data-driven individual adept at modern data technologies and architectures. Key Responsibilities:Lead and scale the data engineering team, ensuring efficient execution of projects and adherence to best practices.Develop and maintain a robust data architecture capable of supporting the needs of a rapidly growing organization.Oversee the design and implementation of scalable data models and warehouses using Snowflake.Leverage Airflow to streamline workflows and improve the integration of data processes.Help set standards for onboarding, requirements, documentation, coding, branching, code reviews, deployments, support operations, platforms, analysis, automation, communication, maintenance, decommissioning, and other necessary processes.Implement and optimize data transformation pipelines using dbt to ensure accurate and timely availability of data for analytics and business operations.Collaborate with other leaders across the business to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making and process improvements.Support the business in uncovering, transforming, accessing, understanding, and exploiting data.Exhibit soft social skills that are thoughtful and empathetic, necessary for managing a large team and numerous customers.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data engineering tools and trends, continuously improving the team's use of technology.Manage project planning and resource allocation for maximum efficiency and impact.Create value through the increased adoption of data; understand the data science and business intelligence landscape to guide the adoption of the right tools and processes.
Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field10 years of experience in data engineeringAdvanced experience and knowledge of AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, and dbt.Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing principles.Advanced experience with algorithms and data structures.Proven experience in building and deploying enterprise-scale solutions.Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of leading high-performing teams.Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $184,300.00 to $247,100.00 and remote is $175,500 to $235,400 per year. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
