Position Definition for DCC III:
Under direction, to perform legal work of above average complexity and difficulty in providing representation to assigned County departments, boards and agencies; to research and prepare written opinions on more sensitive and complex legal issues; to prepare contracts, resolutions and ordinances for assigned County departments; to prepare and try routine judicial and administrative cases under minimal general supervision; to provide legal advice to County departments, boards and agencies; to make recommendations to the County Counsel concerning the advisability of pursuing, compromising or dismissing litigation; and to do related work as required.Qualifications:Active membership in the California State Bar.Admitted, or eligible for admission, to the United States District Court for Eastern California.Level II:
One year of progressively responsible experience in the private or public practice of law as an attorney, preferably with experience emphasizing municipal law, trial practice or administrative law. A post doctoral degree in law may be substituted for up to one year of experience as a practitioner.Level III:
Two years of experience in. One year of experience emphasizing governmental, trial practice or administrative law is preferred.Level IV:
Three years of experience. Two years of experience emphasizing governmental, trial practice or administrative law is preferred.Level V:
Four years of experience. Three years of experience emphasizing governmental, trial practice or administrative law is preferred.
