U of D Jesuit High School and Academy is seeking qualified applicants for its Head Varsity Skiing Coach position.Reports to:
Director of AthleticsEmployment Category:
Part-time, SeasonalDuties and Performance Responsibilities:Ability to organize and supervise practice sessions, off-season workouts, and other activities that pertain to a complete skiing program in conjunction with the Athletic Department.Support the school’s Athletic shared vision, particularly as it pertains to athletic code, formation, academic focus, and athletic.Ability to provide locker room supervision.Support the U of D Jesuit Athletic Department’s student-athlete athletic development programs.Cooperate and work with the Athletic Director and school Principal on matters involving the skiing program.Hire assistant coaches in accordance with U of D Jesuit recruitment guidelines.Attend all mandated U of D Jesuit/league/MHSAA meetings and training sessions.Be responsible for inventory, distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.Attend required abuse risk management training.Adhere to policies related to boundaries with students.Accept responsibility for reporting any suspicious and/or inappropriate behaviors and follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.Qualifications and Experience:Demonstrated knowledge of skiing techniques, strategies and fundamentals.Previous coaching experience, especially at the high school level, preferred.College degree in the field of education and or counseling strongly preferred.Other Skills and Abilities:Ability to work well with students, faculty, media, staff and community.Ability to adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising students.Excellent communication skills–written and verbal.A willingness to understand and embrace the Jesuit and Catholic tradition of U of D Jesuit and develop a passion for the Mission of the School.Physical Working Conditions:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or lifting of moderate to heavy weight objects (20-50 lbs) where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities.While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may be unfavorable at times.University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all candidates for employment equally regardless of age, color, national origin, race, sex, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
