JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director for First Year Admissions, the International Admissions Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the logistics of the international team including recruitment and marketing, application management, responding to international student inquiries, immigration advising, admission requirements, referrals to other departments, staff training, staff supervision and oversight of Visa issuance and management to support the University’s mission to foster a diverse and global community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of Admissions Officers responsible for international student recruitment, contract admissions representatives, and international secretary.
Establish targeted international travel areas based on application history, current trends, and university enrollment goals.
Market and promote the University of Connecticut to prospective undergraduate students through travel and recruitment events internationally and domestically. Establish relationships with school administrators and community partners.
Review of undergraduate admissions applications. Verification of international applications.
Evaluation of international academic credentials and English proficiency. Verify educational programs offered in different countries.
Perform SEVIS record maintenance, updates, and reporting to ensure compliance. Review and analyze submitted documents to ensure accuracy, authentication, completeness, and adherence to specifications and compliance standards, including soliciting missing information and uploading required documentation
Serve as DSO (Designated School Official) for Visa issuance through SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System) following BCIS (Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services). Must remain in compliance according to Department of Homeland Security standards.
Provide updates to University offices, including Athletics, Financial Aid, Orientation, and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), regarding international students and admissions criteria.
Collaborate with Global Affairs, ISSS, and Contract Organizations on recruitment and enrollment in various overseas markets.
Collaborate with Orientation on international orientation plan and outreach.
Assists the processing unit in verifying documents and credentials as necessary to complete international applications.
Serve as Undergraduate Admissions liaison for Undocumented students. Attend professional development regarding state and federal guidelines. Train Admission staff on current issues and state and federal guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Six years of related experience. Two years must be spent serving in an advanced capacity.
Knowledge of the University’s admissions criteria and practices.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of evaluating academic credentials based on different grading systems.
Knowledge of available academic programs.
Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and work under pressure.
Demonstrated ability for accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience with utilizing technology in work responsibilities.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Willingness to travel to domestic and international markets and work flexible and irregular hours.
Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in organizations committed to global diversity.
Familiarity with online computer information systems.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, permanent position and requires flexible and irregular hours. Salary Range: $72,134 - $78,500 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
