McKesson’s well-regarded General Counsel’s Organization is seeking an experienced Legal Specialist to support the McKesson Compile business. Reporting to the Managing Principal Counsel, Enterprise Data Privacy, Security and Technology Law, this role will focus on McKesson Compile’s customer, vendor, and supplier contracts. This position requires a dynamic contributor who will proactively collaborate with business unit attorneys and Compile business executives to drive progress while adeptly managing risk within the highly regulated healthcare industry.Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:Draft, review, negotiate and process McKesson Compile contracts through signature. To include providing guidance on contract standards, participating in contract negotiations, and maintaining a contract lifecycle management system.Identify and analyze key legal, regulatory, and business issues to effectively coordinate business terms with business partners and, with minimal guidance, draft, review and revise provisions in McKesson Compile’s contracts for attorney review.Partner with McKesson Compile sales and business development teams to maintain and update templates, contracting processes and business/contractual tracking mechanisms. Provides support with proposal development for data vendors.Identifies, analyzes, researches, and resolves legal and business process issues and makes appropriate recommendations.Identifies risk, determines the level of risk, and routes appropriately. Consults on legal and business provisions with applicable legal and operational stakeholders.Monitors compliance with internal McKesson business and legal processes and policies.Prepares legal presentations and summaries for attorneys and presents to Compile senior leaders, as applicable. Prepares contract summaries and/or issues lists to present to attorney, senior leaders, or clients for review, if applicable.Highly proactive, accountable, team-oriented, and capable of managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Efficient when working independently and/or collaboratively.Fulfill other responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by McKesson Compile for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
4-year degree and/or a Legal Assistant Certificate from an ABA approved institution (preferred) with 5+ years’ work experience, orJD with 3+ years transactional work experience.Critical Skills
Strong writing and verbal communication skills. Excellent legal judgment with the ability to be both pragmatic/business-oriented and strategic.Ability to effectively and efficiently collaborate with internal stakeholders to support preparation, drafting, and/or negotiation of pertinent third-party business arrangements, intercompany agreements, and ad hoc contractual provisions.Capable of handling significant transactions.Additional Knowledge and Skills
Experience working in a healthcare regulatory environment preferred, including experience with applicable Federal and State privacy and data protection regulations.Experience working within major corporations in the healthcare industry in various complex business transactions.Proven track record of successfully navigating emerging areas of privacy, data and technology law.CIPP/US, and/or similar professional certification(s).Physical Requirements
General office demands.Must have the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.Location
