www.schwansjobs.com .The Director, Food Safety Programs is responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise in the development and maintenance of effective Food Safety and Quality policies, procedures, and practices (Food Safety and Quality Management Framework) across all CJ Schwan’s manufacturing and storage locations (Internal and External). You will be responsible for assisting in strategic planning and providing a framework for company growth and future development. The Director will partner with the Operations and Capital teams to identify and prioritize food safety related/operational integrity capital projects and mitigation plans across the network. Ideally this role will be based in Bloomington, MN, but we are also open to remote candidates.Responsibilities:
Serve as the Company Subject Matter Expert for the following Food Safety Programs:Environmental MonitoringFinished Product TestingIngredient Risk Assessment and Verification Testing ProgramsForeign Material Identification, Control and EliminationFood Safety System Verification and AuditingProvide leadership on food safety and regulatory compliance to ensure a food safety culture throughout the company. Ensure food safety and regulatory compliance expectations are communicated to all stakeholders.Develop and effectively articulate the CJ Schwan’s Food Safety and Quality Framework (Policies, Procedures, and Programs) to senior leaders and plant management.Lead and ensure food safety continuous improvement initiatives are developed and executed.Provide strategic and tactical leadership to assure all food safety and regulatory policies (USDA/FDA/Corporate) and procedures are maintained and followed.Provide strategic leadership on food safety risk management including risk assessments and communication.Provide leadership to assure all USDA and FDA food safety plans and prerequisite programs are effective and scientifically substantiated.Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement and improve Food Safety and Quality procedures, equipment, and metrics.Provide guidance and develop technical expertise of relevant employees regarding Foreign Material Identification, Control and Elimination.Lead the Corporate FSQ audit team in conducting food safety and quality audits at all manufacturing facilities (Internal and External Manufacturing).Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related technical field of study in the applied sciences.Minimum of 8 years’ experience with multi-site management of quality and food safety systems and programs. Must have strong food safety and microbiology background.High level of analytical thinking and communication skills.Must have a high degree of intellectual curiosity.Outstanding organizational and time management skills.Ability to travel 25%.Knowledge of Food Safety Related regulations (USDA/FDA).Knowledge of GFSI standards and expectations.The employing subsidiaries of Schwan’s Company are Equal Employment Opportunity Employers.
