We are looking for a Data Scientist with a strong financial analytics background to join our Finance team. This role will focus on building and managing dashboards that provide critical insights into Cargomatic’s financial performance, cost structure, and operational metrics. As a bridge between data science and FP&A, you will be responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights and supporting financial decision-making across the organization.Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Development & Reporting:
Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards that monitor key financial and operational metrics, including revenue, costs, and profitability.Work closely with the FP&A and finance teams to develop dashboards that align with business goals and provide real-time visibility into financial performance.Ensure data integrity and accuracy within dashboards, updating them regularly to reflect the latest financial data and insights.
Financial Data Analysis:
Conduct detailed analyses of financial data, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities to improve financial performance.Support FP&A efforts by providing insights into revenue streams, cost drivers, and profitability, helping to inform budget planning and forecasting.Perform ad hoc financial analyses and create reports as requested by leadership to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Finance, Operations, and other key departments to understand their data needs, develop meaningful reports, and provide insights to drive business outcomes.Work closely with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data availability, quality, and accessibility across finance-focused data projects.Act as a financial data consultant within the company, offering insights and guidance on data-related questions, particularly those relevant to financial planning and analysis.
Data Modeling & Predictive Analysis:
Develop and maintain data models to support forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning initiatives.Utilize predictive modeling techniques to support scenario analysis, helping the FP&A team to understand potential financial outcomes based on various business strategies.Drive automation efforts for financial reporting, leveraging data science tools to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.3+ years of experience in data science, financial analytics, or a similar role with a focus on financial data.Advanced proficiency with Tableau and experience in creating finance-focused dashboards that deliver key business insights.Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, data analysis, and an understanding of core FP&A principles.Proficient in SQL for database querying, with familiarity in Python or R for data manipulation and analysis being a plus.Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a data-driven approach to decision-making.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.The expected salary range for this role is $130,000 to $160,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
